Employees of Thomas Cook branches in Dublin have locked themselves into the branch at the bottom of Grafton Street in a dispute over redundancy packages and the manner in which they were told they’d lost their jobs. I was down there for a time earlier speaking to a number of those involved.

This one doesn’t quite fit into the usual Irish Election remit but I figured it is current affairs and there’d be a few of our regular readers interested (plus, I’m working for a non-print news organisation at the minute so I’ve no where else to put this). I’ve just finished a brief interview with Declan [...]

Via an intermediary…oh it is all very cloak and dagger…a member of the Anglo Golden 10 speaks to the Irish Independent this morning. This comes as the resignations begin to gather momentum as former board members like Gary McGann and Anne Heraty resign from their other board positions. The member is unidentified except to note; [...]

I managed to catch up with Sinn Fein’s Dun Laoghaire candidate Eoin O Brion at 9:30 this evening in Dun Laoghaire. The pier out there is stunning. The interview was done on dictaphone, apologies if its a little phonically-challenged. [display_podcast]

Here I am talking to Ciaran Cuffe, Green TD in Dun Laoghaire as he canvasses in Shankill Dart Station. Ciaran has a blog at cuffestreet.blogspot.com. A word before we begin to publish these interviews. It is a matter for parties and candidates who gets put up here. We contacted all parties, asked for two people. Sometimes we went to candidates with a web presence and doubly asked. The result is likely to be a mixed picture on parties (likely reflecting [...]

Pat Rabbitte was just on the tail-end of the 9 o’clock news, saying that he doesn’t know whether it’s going to be a ‘fiery’ debate or not, but that most people ‘have already made up their minds who they’re going to vote for’ so it’s not the most important debate ever. Er, wtf? Last time [...]

I would like to thank Mr Gogarty for taking my questions. A few months ago, the Green Party started its 50 Steps program where you would release fifty policies on education on the run up to the election. It was going well for a while with roughly one a week. However since step nine on [...]

On Friday I spoke with Senator Tom Morrissey of the Progressive Democrats at the end of the party’s ‘A New Heart for Dublin’ conference, which detailed their idea of redeveloping Dublin Port into a residential area. Senator Morrissey is the man spear-heading the idea, and the conference was launched by Michael McDowell, where he spoke [...]

Ciaran Cuffe of the Green Party is a TD for Dun Laoghaire. Some interesting feedback in there that you might want to pontificate on-Lab/FF as the most likely government, pedestrianising of College Green, turning Bank Of Ireland, College Green into a civic building. Ciaran Cuffe Thanks for talking to us. IE.com: Quick reaction to the [...]

And yes I was hoping for a little more engagement John Gormley thanks for agreeing to talk to us; IE.com: The Green Party are enjoying 7% support in the polls and the national agenda currently seems to suit them (sustainable energy, public transport etc.) What are Greens looking for at the next election? Is there [...]

The second and final part of the interview Eric Byrne did with Irish Election. Part 1 is here. The last three questions have been asked in the comments elsewhere. IE.com: Slightly connected, business and the private sector make a great deal of noise about tax levels, so much so that Pat Rabbitte suggested that Labour [...]
