Ok so we lost Joe. And we miss him. We really do. At the Dail yesterday they all gave him a nod. Tony Gregory said the place wouldn’t be the same. It won’t. It will. But it won’t.
Fianna Fail are still in charge but Fine Gael’s muscles have gotten some electoral steroids. How hard will [...]

Catherine Murphy and Finian McGrath TD have lost their challenge to the constituency boundaries. McGrath says that the case was decided on a “technicality” although it’s not yet clear what that is. One possibility is that neither was from a constituency that was underrepresented according to the 1 TD per 30,000 criterion (one issue being at [...]

We are always giving out about RTE, the State of Us was dire, Fair City risible, and Killinascully is a vacuous black hole of comedy which has all the laughter sucked out.
But what about RTE’s election coverage? It was supposed to be the most extensive coverage ever and sure enough the RTE TV studio [...]

The drunk and the powerful came together, they came with their wives and their fans, they slapped backs and winked at each other for they knew what so many had denied for so long - that Fianna Fail was going to win the 2007 general election. They gathered in groups of two and three, these [...]

Looks like those who listen to Radio 1 once Dave is over are in for a treat. At 8 o’clock tonight, a documentary which followed three female candidates in Dublin Central will air. It follows Fianna Fail candidate Mary Fitzpatrick (lost), Green Party’s Patricia McKenna and Sinn Fein’s Mary Lou McDonald. It seems like it [...]

Labour/Fine Gael/Green missed out by 7 seats. Where were these 7 seats that they could have won that would have won the election. Here is 3 seats that decided the outcome.

Ciaran Cuffe posts about winning, just. He is also very frank on the matter of coalition with Fianna Fail but there is a but.
Let’s be clear. A deal with Fianna Fáil would be a deal with the devil. We would be spat out after 5 years, and decimated as a Party. But, … would it [...]

Probably the TD who took the Dail stage most seriously and the best one at needling Bertie. A reminder of one of his classics below, I’m sure others have their own.

Word from the count centre is that Catherine Byrne (FG) is going to be elected without reaching quota on the final count, which means that Aongus O’Snodaigh (SF) will shade it ahead of Eric Byrne (Lab), with just 67 votes between them.
Right now papers are being re-checked to make sure that none of Eric’s votes [...]

Psychologists today warned of the dire consequences if the near-toxic levels of schadenfreude caused by the PD’s demise continue.
For many socialists, liberals, libertarians and plain old democrats, the PD meltdown was a hidden diamond in the race to the centre-right that was election 07.
The removal from office of so many hubristic, egotistical demagogues in one [...]

As Mick notes in the comments here, we have three siblings to join the brother-in-law/sister-in-law, husband/wife combinations elected to Dáil Eireann. Tom Kitt, Michael Kitt and Aine Brady (nee Kitt) are all elected to the 30th Dáil.

Around 900 first preferences for Cyprian Brady has turned into a Dail seat thanks to the massive transfer of Bertie. Is this a historic first?

Friends, Romans, running dogs of the leftist media, lend me your ears.
I want to take this opportunity to let the people of Dublin South East thank me for the honour and privilege I have bestowed upon them by choosing to represent them as their TD, as a Minister and [...]
