Longford - Westmeath

Penrose expected to top poll, Sexton’s PD vote collapses and it transfers to FG. Bannon polling well but this is based on Longford boxes where he is expected to do well.

Kerry South

Early boxes in Kerry South Show a FF bounce of Tom Fleming and O’Donoghue out in front any flying.

It’s between Breda Moynihan Cronin, Seamus Coasai and Jackie Healy Rae for final seat with speculation that Jackie could be squeezed out.

Donegal North East

With about 30 boxes open… Cecilia Keavney has 34% of the vote , SF Candidate Padraig MacLochlainn performing well with 27% of the vote. More in the next 20 minutes.

Turnout implications

Well we are going to speculating all weekend on where the transfers will be going, and we have been speculating for weeks on the result. So let’s speculate on the implications of a high turnout like Harry McGee is amongst others. A high turnout of what? Based on what I mean?  A flawed register?
Let’s say [...]

Rounding up the blogs - Day 24….and now the end is near

So did the €70million clanger last night which was hurriedly changed to 40million cause Bertie to run away from the readers of the Irish Times in an online webchat today?? Harry McGee has more about FF’s Jim O’Keeffe Moment.
Cllr Michael O’Brien (Labour - Carlow Kilkenny) notes that some people have been reading his blog and [...]

21 Days Later - Blog/web round up

We’ve been missing a few bits of compulsory ephemera and staging this campaign. Ah the electoral rally - Thomas Byrne (FF- Meath East) had a visit from Bertie at the beginning of the month. And it’s recorded for posterity. I nearly ran round the corner to Dance World and bought a pair of hard shoes. [...]

Web Round up Pole Day - Day 18

Ah you never know who you’ll meet when you are out canvassing! Pat Rabbitte met Mr. Tayto in Limerick which was grand for both of them I’m sure. (Cheese and Onion or Salt and Vinegar?)

Missing Persons Report - Martin Cullen and Dick Roche

Irishelection.com has begun a new service on bringing you reports on missing politicians. First tonight we are sad to report that Ministers Martin Cullen and Dick Roche have been reported missing.

Web round up day 15, time for the B vitamins

And here we are on day 15, time to break out the Berocca - am sure the canvassers are on the red bull etc., but for those of us watching and blogging whilst doing whatever we do, the second half of this campaign better bring something soon to pep up the step.
Now as for Bertie’s [...]

Stop the bus I want to …

Senator Tom Morrisey has money to burn it seems, and if you ever wondered where the Imps went to…. Conor Lenihan has one!

Web round up Day 13…be afraid…oh don’t be that afraid…

Instead of running a one woman campaign for the re-nationalisation of NTL (formerly Cablelink, formerly something else state owned) I have given up waiting for the man from NTL to come and fix my television and broadband and headed to the local net cafe to bring you the latest dose of electoral blogathon that is [...]

Web round up day 9

Evening all, back from a trip to Cork where Bertie’s face is definitely absent from the lampposts - I think that’s more a ‘Cork and Bertie’ issue than a ‘Bertie and the house and the money’ thing. Whilst I was away I was glued to the radio and surfing a lot so not much catching [...]

Round up of Day 6 of the campaign on the web

Press release titles of the day? For the chuckle factor anyway. Kenny’s appeal goes down the YouTubes in video views stakes - Ambrose. Councillor Siobhan Ambrose, Fianna Fáil candidate in Tipperary South thinks that because more people have seen her youtube video than a version of Enda Kenny’s party conference speech [...]

Introducing Senator Colm O’Gorman

Progressive Democrat Senator Kate Walsh passed away on April 24th.  This evening An Taoiseach announced the immediate appointment of Colm O’Gorman, PD candidate in Wexford to Seanad Eireann. Senator Walsh was a Taoiseach’s appointment so it is perfectly proper that another nomination be made and logical in the terms of a coalition that [...]

Bertie Ahern to retire before 30th Dáil concludes

In an interview with Vincent Browne to be broadcast tonight, Bertie Ahern confirms that he will stand down as Taoiseach before the end of the next Dáil. Voting for a pig in a whatever?
You can hear Browne’s earlier questioning of Ahern regarding stamp duty and investment in rented houses at the Fianna Fail manifesto [...]

‘Let’s not talk about my stamp duty issue - let’s talk about yours’

Harry McGee in the Irish Examiner highlights the main plank of today’s Fianna Fail manifesto launch. Who thought stamp duty in all it’s forms would be so popular this campaign? More on Irishelection.com later no doubt including coverage of the Labour manifesto launch which also takes place today.
