    If “ossification” means (from the Australian example) resistance to efforts by large corporations to replace the democratically elected leader of the country, then surely it’s not a bad thing…?

    yes being the PM that pleases Rio Tinto is not the best introduction but I believe that Rudd was also weakened by loss of green voters as he couldn’t get the carbon tax done.
