What exactly are the Government expecting in their Department of Justice budgeting:

  • Forensic Science Laboratory; Up 74%
  • Central Authorities (child abduction and maintenance debtors); Up 152%
  • Probation Service Operating Expenses; Up 57%
  • Witness Security Programme; Up 141%
  • State Pathologist; capital investment of €4.5m
  • Secret Service; Up 11%
  • Irish Youth Justice Service; Up 19%
  • Consultancy Services to An Garda Siochana (Specialists); Up 31%

While at the same time;

  • Crime Prevention (not as big a section as you’d imagine) is cut by 58%

And you can stick your Broken Window theory too, cos the budget for Graffiti Removal budget is gone completely, zero, zilch, nadda. And it’s not the only section to be obliterated either, there’s a few, finding more and more and I parse through the document.
