“I support this message”

Would it make a difference to our political outlook if we freed up space for political ads from parties and vested interests? A BCI report to be published today thinks it would. I am inclined to agree – running a blog like this. The clash of opinion is always a good thing, newspapers do an excellent job but furthering the ability to get your message across – without depending on a photo-shoot, journalist or columnist – is no bad thing. However it opens a can of worms about directing money to radio ads that could be spent elsewhere and the loudest voices drowning debate. Kevin Rafter wrote the report-to be made available here: a condensed version.

You think FF wouldn’t be able to drown out everyone else? This isn’t a two party system with roughly equal fundraising abilities. It’s a two and a half and a few bits system, where the biggest party has by far the best fundraising abilities.
