Greens: 1/3 + 1 = General Election

RTE has seen the letter from John Gormley to Green Party members with the rules for the October 10 meeting to approve the revised programme for government and NAMA. Motions to approve each will need a 2/3 majority to pass (edit: the NAMA motion needs at least 1/3 support to not precipitate a walk-out). Remember that they got Lisbon approval with exactly the 2/3 majority, not a vote to spare. So it’s essentially daring the membership jointly and severally to have the Greens walk from government. Just wondering … was Mary Coughlan’s verbal slip the other day of the Freudian variety?
