The UK hedge-fund manager Crispin Odey, who an Irish Independent article claimed had “bankrolled” “Declan Ganley’s ‘No to Lisbon Campaign’, has rejected claims by Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan that he is funding the Libertas “no” campaign. In a fax to RTE and TV3 dated 30th September 2009 and seen by me, Mr Odey demanded [...]

If you look up the definition of young you come across amongst other meanings Lacking experience; immature. So Young Fine Gael can easily be called “Immature Fine Gael”. Very good referendum idea from Labour to beat the moratorium. If you have any questions on Lisbon go ahead and ask them. They will answer all questions and post them publicly here so pop over to get your questions sorted. Of course Labour is campaigning for a yes, so you can expect answers to be [...]

The eyes of the world will be on Ireland next Saturday awaiting our decision on the Lisbon Treaty. Some 550 journalists are accredited to attend the count, about two thirds of whom are coming from the UK and even from the farthest corners of Europe, according to today’s Irish Independent. Such a level of interest [...]

A poll for how people will vote on Lisbon, it is hosted on my own site as I don’t wish to interfere with the WordPress plug-ins for Irishelection.com. Plus, I’m not 100% sure how well it will work and so don’t want to risk mucking things up here. You can find the poll here In [...]

Well, its almost all done barring the actual voting. This point of any campaign always makes me think about the question of opinion polls and how they will compared to the actual result. Here are the MRBI and Red C polls in the run up to the referendum. So what result will next Friday’s vote [...]

Seven days from now the fate of the Irish nation will have been determined. This generation will determine whether the independence won because of the sacrifice of the men and women of 1916 will have been but an interlude in Irish history, or whether 1916’s vision of a small nation, cooperating with its European and [...]

Sarah McInerney at the Sunday Times went canvassing with Coir for her piece in today’s paper. They wouldn’t let her tag along officially so she posed as a volunteer. While Brian Hickey doesn’t come across wonderfully – and there is more on this lot over at Ciaran Cuffe’s blog – there is little hint of [...]

Rumour has it that the ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ camps plan to get down and dirty in the last few days of the campaign – as if they could diminish themselves further than they’ve already managed to do in some of last week’s bitter exchanges of accusations and bile. It struck me that should it transpire [...]

RTE has seen the letter from John Gormley to Green Party members with the rules for the October 10 meeting to approve the revised programme for government and NAMA. Motions to approve each will need a 2/3 majority to pass (edit: the NAMA motion needs at least 1/3 support to not precipitate a walk-out). Remember [...]

RTE reports that the latest Red C poll, conducted in the first three days of this week, and published in tomorrow’s Sunday Business Post, shows 55% in favour of Yes to Lisbon, 27% No with 18% remaining undecided. When the undecideds are excluded, it’s 67% in favour to 33% against. No room for complacency, but [...]
