John O Donoghue’s Media Capture?

An excellent post by Gavin, which fell through my bank holiday weekend, on the treatment of the John O Donoghue expenses story by friends in the media. A great post and one I tend to agree with. The scale of what he undertook should raise far more ire than this kind of ‘ah sure…’ guff.
I mean capture in the Bernstein sense of regulatory capture, except in this case it’s the media.
Instead of dealing with the issue, O’Regan makes excuse after excuse for O’Donoghue. None of them relevant, but all of them indicative of someone who appears to be pals with the minister. Let’s look at these comments together:

Pat Kenny is also part of the “I’m entitled to it” culture and would see nothing strange in top of the range expenses and the tragedy is this culture still exists. There is a whole top layer who have remained untouched by the “cutbacks”
