Don’t worry, I’m not going to write another 1000 words on liveblogging. I just wanted to tell you some of the things that have come up while we’ve been running our Moratorium Day, Voting Day and marathon Count Day liveblogs here. Firstly, we’ve put Blacknight’s machinery under unwarranted stresses. They’ve been fantastically helpful and Cian [...]

The most compelling race in the country is over with the victory of Alan Kelly in the race for the final seat. Kelly took the seat in a final head to head with Sinnot by 10,000 votes after Toireasa Ferris was eliminated as ever you had it first on the liveblog. The MEPs so far [...]

Update: via Declan Ganley is to step down from leading Libertas and bow out of public life according to reports at the count in Castlebar. He will no lead the Lisbon II campaign either. At present the Government have a three-vote majority in the Dáil with the support of Jackie Healy-Rae, Michael Lowry and Joe Behan. However, when Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher is elected to Europe his vote will immediately no longer count in Dáil Eireann bringing the majority down to two. Healy-Rae will never vote against the Government [...]

At 5.30 my phone buzzes, ‘Joe elected, we are done here’. Now that is hardcore. Eoin Ryan, like the terminator, menaces that he will be back probably to Dublin South East and signalling the exit of Chris Andrews. Mairead McGuinness is the only other MEP to be elected thus far outside of Dublin and counting [...]

The Ahern Machine has ground to a shuddering halt. De Udder Brudder was desperately hoping to find 13 votes in a bunch of about 600 non-tranferables. Fianna Fáil would have hoped that the last candidate to be eliminated, their own Seaghan Kearney would have given Ahern enough to shove him over the line. However, it [...]
