You are with which party? Cllr Tom Stafford

Tom Stafford is a Fianna Fáil councillor running for election in Dublin’s North Inner City. He had a car dealership on Amien Street as I remember. His brother John was a Fianna Fáil TD in the late 1980′s and is an undertaker. Charlie Haughey loyalists to the core, the Staffords are the last people one would expect to have electoral amnesia in respect to their party membership.

Tom is known for opposing the Spire. He stepped aside from contesting the nomination for FF’s by-election candidate earlier this month to clear the way for Maurice Ahern’s victory in the selection convention.
There is a FF Logo but for a FF candidate there’s a lot of red going on in that leaflet isn’t there? And not one mention anywhere of the party name.

Head over to our T![Reblog this post [with Zemanta]](http://img.zemanta.com/reblog_e.png?x-id=138cb5fd-a58a-4e3e-b205-838b17abc4a3)
I would just mention two things on his leaflet that drew my eye
“The disrespect of senior citizens” I wonder who has been most disrespectful of our senior citizens in recent times, or is this just a protective arm being thrown around ‘Our Maurice’?
“The lack of consistent Gardai on the beat”
Certainly there are many areas around the city and the rest of the country that note the consistent lack of visible Gardai and how this impacts on anti-social behaviour and crime, but I wonder if he is in fact referring to the Garda band and the rhythm section’s inability to keep to the beat.
“Sale of alcohol to underage youngsters” as opposed to overage youngsters?
On the Garda on the beat. It has not a great effect on reducing crime numbers
That is some manifesto for election Mr Stafford!!!……..What about the following points below…..
The current government including Tom Stafford and the Greens have no grasp on how to deal with the top heavy civil service, the HSE, consultants and lawyers or the builders who successfully lobbied and got what they deserved along with the greedy auctioneers.
As for the banking “pigs breakfast” well we all know what went on there……greed and more greed. The respective managers have been paid off instead of handcuffed and jailed???. Further to this the banks should have been nationalized and be managed by non affiliated persons for the good of the state and the nation.
The nail in Fianna Fails coffin will be Staffords support for the government in its pointless campaigning across the nation. The cheek of FF to waste ten years appeasing the rich and powerful and the cheek of Stafford to create a manifesto such as this, a brainless and pointless list of items which he should have implemented at this stage…..grrrrr!!!!
This nation is now a welfare state incapable of managing its affairs with thick and ignorant politicians at the helm who are no different than the Ray Burkes, Liam Lawlors, and Haugheys of old. Ahern, Stafford and Cowen are all part of that dying group.
We all know that the majority of politicians (Including Stafford) are in power now to line their own pockets. They have entered politics with good intentions but have become part of the ailing parties they represent, instead of trying to change for the good of the nation, through decent and moral governance. RIP Tony Gregory.
Tom Stafford should stand up and rethink his simply stupid and age old rhetorical manifesto towards a new and enlightened one, modern in its approach. He might alienate himself but at least he will show that he has a pair of conkers for all to see.
Again, RIP Tony Gregory, you gave your life through challenging the powerful and greedy who care less about morals and more about power and personal wealth and their crony friends who avoid paying tax simply because they know how the governing parties waste it!!!.
We were on our way to vote but our way was blocked by Stafford & Goons pushing leaflets on people (noticeably the elderly) as they walked past to vote. They were well inside the 50m limit and the Guards were decent about it – but had instructions not to “cause an incident”. When the bould Tom was asked why he was canvassing so close to the polling station he said that he was “entitled” to. My smart-arse comment about Fianna Fail, the letter of the law and the spirit of democracy was more heart-felt than it might have seemed. This party has shown contempt for fair play on a huge scale over the years and while, no doubt, there are decent people in FF – they need a period of decontamination before they’re let loose on this country in any meaningful way.
Sent an email regarding traffic matters to Tommy Stafford ( he’s on the Traffic Ctte. ) – Not a dickey bird back. Useless ‘Cute hoor’ party !
