Entering the second last week of the campaign and the online campaign jewels shine brightly.

On Election.ie Alexia Golez spent Saturday trailing the Labour Party Leader travelling in Gilforce 1 and 2 and meeting the party’s by-election candidates.

Meanwhile in Limerick, Alexia’s sister Klara spotted Labour local election candidate Tom Shortt skateboarding with his brother comedian Pat Shortt. Pat sprained his ankle during the photo-op – a new meaning for brotherly love?

Grace Campbell from Youth Media for Europe tries to find out more about one of the Independent Candidates running in the East Constituency. Jim Tallon is one mysterious serial election candidate!

Another independent candidate running for the European Elections and the only Limerick based candidate is Dr. Alexander Stafford. Squid from Limerick Blogger caught up with him for an interview.

Yesterday in an online first for Ireland Joe Higgins from the Socialist Party held a online media conference taking questions via twitter and from a number of bloggers who attended the event. Full coverage of the session is available here and there is a promise to get to the questions they did not have time to answer.

It’s oooh at least 4 days since anyone mentioned George on Irish Election – Described as Satire in his youtube description – Paul Kelly sings George Lee

Eoin Ryan MEP was at the Heineken Cup Final on Saturday (with a poster truck!) and tweeted his congratulations from Murrayfield, the following day he made it to the RDS for the party.

And now for something completely different!

David Geary, candidate for the Green Party in the Dublin Central By-Election and also a local election candidate talks to an Italian-Irish Media project about his affinity with Italy and the history of recent Irish politics.

Navan Man and Independent Candidate Adrian O’Donnell makes his plea for your vote

To Leitrim next and Siobhan McGloin who is a Fine Gael candidate and was a councillor for 13 years until 2004.

Also from the producer of Siobhan’s video – look at Hubert a Fine Gael candidate in Sligo. See those family photographs!

There is a strong touch of the “my fellow Americans” to some of these office background set ups.

Don’t miss Ronan Callely’s Facebook page. It may well provide an insight into the face of future politics. The local election candidate’s hot button issue for discussion at the moment (actually, his only topic of discussion) is “Should Barcode be closed down????” (Barcode is a bar much favoured by young Clontarf folk) I should add, the multiple question marks are his, presumably to emphasise the gravity of the issue????

Ronan (Fianna Fáil, and son of FF) is presenting himself as the candidate of change. Change of hairdo? Change of clothes?? Change of drinking establishment??? Change of car????
