Well well well, Fianna Fail left holding the baby. Pat ‘the cope’ was snapped at Galway’s Ocean Race stopover with the obligitory baby photo. It would be a fright to keep it to ourselves.
Local politics, big ideas. Sligo Leitrim Roscommon Green grouping candidate Garreth McDaid – a candidate in the Leitrim council elections – has a post asking when we will end our love affair with bottled water.
At least Garreth didn’t go taking his coin over to the Micandidate project, one which is increasingly frayed at the edges. As Alexia goes through in full detail, they don’t really know what they are doing. Do go read and don’t go spend.
The new-Irish candidates at this election are proving fascinating, here is a profile of Dublin local candidate Lech Szczeciński. I really like the vibe from it, I have to say.
Bad news for The Limerick Blog as they were stood up in their appointment with a candidate but thankfully they direct us to this little gem. Local candidate Seamus Sheahan’s blog. The blog is infrequently updated, fair enough he is busy, but the photo’s are classic for the consistency of his pose. Check it out.
Not to be outdone by the mega vids of George Lee and Alex White, Fianna Fail’s Dublin South hopeful Shay Brennan has this video from the canvass.
Love Brian Greene’s election tips, especially number three “BHG election tips #3: learn the skills of bi-location, or do like i do, have your twin on an alternate canvas team.
” and number 4: “BHG election tips #4: candidates should look like the person on their poster, remember its a photo shoot not a photoshop”
Patrick Mophoso attended a protest against cuts to work permits for non-EU workers and promises to keep protesting on this issue for his voters.
Enda Kenny, standing on a box. John Paul Phelan on his shoulder. Nothing new here.
Like smart mums, Brian has gone to Iceland and Dermot is left without a key member of the team. Doesn’t seem to bother the man who claims to best online campaign.
Thanks to flickr user Grogg for the best election posters yet. Who said politics is for muppets?

Michael McLoughlin gives us ten reasons to vote for him, well not us per se, just the constituents. Attn Bailieborough, Niamh Smyth wants to fix your roads. If you got a local issue, give her a call – details here.
Head over to our T
I’m quite upset actually, the blackguard waited until I had trapsed accross the city and was at the meeting point before he told me he wasn’t coming out to play.
I also notice that both the banker and paddy the plasterer left out the Fianna Fail logo.
On the bottled water thing it is obvious he is not running in Ennis
Squid, could it be that the FFer is in fact in the new candidate protection program that I had heard about? It’s where a candidate who has had a number of successive days of unmerciful berating on the doorsteps is taken to a secure location far from the public and allowed rest while watching video clips from FF Ard Fheiseana past. They’re weaning back into the fray by seeing coverage of the various heaves against Haughey, and pictures of John Bruton in the Taoiseach’s office and once their blood is up they are released back onto the campaign trail.
