Fianna Fail Candidate will Work for Free if Elected

Well he may have to, looking at todays poll numbers. Dr John Sheehan from Cork wants to be a Fianna Fail councillor. And he promises not to take any of the €16,000 salary in his first year. Instead he wants it diverted to fund a day care centre. Probably the best value you will get from your FF reps, wonder how many others will work for free to keep their job?

“I think as local election candidates and potentially public representatives, we all need to do our part to help the city in these difficult economic times,” said Dr. Sheehan. “That is why I am willing to give my first year’s salary of €16,000 back to Cork City Council if elected. I would prefer to see this funding going towards worthy projects such as a day care centre for the elderly in Farranree or to a drug and alcohol project in Knocknaheeny.”

Nice for him that he is well enough paid to be able to fund his activities as a Councillor himself!

Will give back something + Fianna Fail = Alarm Bells !

I would suggested that if this actually happened, Joe Taxpayer would be lathered up the ass for an additional $16,000 in ‘expenses’ or there will be additional ‘FF Brown Envelopes’ to the value of $16,000 circulating in the Rebel county.

I understood, that Councillors, didn’t get a salary, just expenses.

Here in Meath, each councillor, gets almost E30,000 p.a expenses, and the Cathoirleach, who was The very samr Nick Killian, (yes him that threw his rattle out of the pram this week ) was chairman in 2007-2008 actually got more than E70,000 in expenses. I kid you not.
These are for just attentding council functions, they actually get more if they are on any committee, like V.E.C. etc.

Finding it rich that Nessa Childer’s campaign manager knocks a Fianna Fáiler about NOT claiming money when his party has some of the greediest sons of bitches in the Oireachtas when it comes to claiming from the coffers of the taxpayer.

Also now it seems being a success is a bad thing? Shame on him for being a doctor and rich enough to be able to not claim expenses?

From looking at the above comments…all I can say is that no matter how how good your intention is, you will always have a bunch of idiots criticising you!

Ok, so he is in a position where he won’t go hungry – but surely it at leasts shows a bit of idealism and desire for public service that I find very refreshing in a FF candidate, or any canditate these days.
What more do people want? should he give a kidney?
