Sinn Fein Expenses

Read more about: Sinn Féin     Print This Post

While nothing to with the budget it is certainly worth noting. Recently the expenses of MPs have been big news in the UK. With Jacqui Smith getting the most heat. But Sinn Fein have also been caught up in it. From the Guardian

Sinn Féin’s five MPs each claimed £21,000 in second-home allowances from the UK parliament last year, despite refusing to take their seats in the House of Commons.

The republican movement said the money was paid for renting two houses in London used by Gerry Adams, Martin McGuinness, Michelle Gildernew, Pat Doherty and Conor Murphy when they are working in the capital.

Plus According to the Mail

They are seen only occasionally in the Palace of Westminster and the scale of their flats claim is all the more extraordinary as their travel expenses are relatively low  -  suggesting they rarely come to London.

So will Sinn Fein’s attitude to Westminister expenses register anything in Ireland?

I expect the SF base are laughing at the Daily Wail on this one. If the Little Englanders don’t want dirty paddies claiming expenses from Westminster I imagine they can guess what solution SF would propose.

British ministers are claiming for porno FFS. I am a bit dismayed the Shinners aren’t a least claiming for Wolfe Tones downloads from iTunes.
