Fine Gael new site Live

Read more about: Fine Gael     Print This Post

The new Fine Gael website is live with it’s very striking BBC look and similar code. Will you tune into FG TV. In his video Enda says that we can talk to Fine Gael. Which is via the Air your view Email No Sign of any blogs on there yet. They have a donate section. There links section is broken. If you click the next to see more links the txt changes but not the images. Personally the site looks drab and depressing which i guess suits the economic climate. And the BBC rip-off is blatant. Overall a poor site that really they should pull. Makes the farce of the FF Gaeilge button seem trivial. So what do people think. Enda Kenny Video below fold.

Update: Found a test site which has a link for  WEATHER TRAFFIC& MORE. Are we to get Enda Forcasts?

Update 2: Just seems the test site has gone down. Are FG watching us? Anyway there is a screen shot below the fold. There is actually a link at the bottom of that test page for a blog. Image also below fold. So that might be the way they are planning to bring in blogging on the site via the “Focus On” section. Which is a nice idea. The quote by the way shown is from FG’s favourite site. The BBC.

Most bizarre of all is the picture FG use when you roll over the Graduate PRSI proposals in the “Campaigns” section down the bottom left.

Are they now claiming credit for the student movement’s anti-fees mobilisation, or that mass rallies support this proposal?

I think Google Images had a part to play.

Pascal is getting a big, big push. Richard is not, main story pushed by him is not visible on the home page.

You cant click the header to return to the main page…

Just looked at the site. I don’t like it much. Maybe it just takes getting used to…

    Wow.

When you put the Fine Gael and BBC sites up side by side… wow…

This was hacked together by a college student with a little coding knowledge. Unfortunately he probably didn’t know that it’s pretty bad form to rip off somebody else’s code and design.

    It’s a disgrace.

Before you throw stones at anyone you should have your own house in order. Clicked on “PARTY NEWS” at the top of your page and I get
Fatal error: Undefined class name ‘bdprss2′ in /home/cianflah/domains/irishelection.com/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/themes/ie/feeds.php on line 22
    Laughing…I suppose anyone can make a mistake..and irishelection.com talk about broken links….
    Good one

John are you saying that a political party should only have the standards of a blog?

John – wow, you’re doing a great, great job of completely missing the point. Congrats.

I’ll post on this later, but let me be quite plain about one thing. You do not launch a site if it’s not finished or barely even close to half unfinished. I’ve been in the general world of tech since the early 90s and if any company I was part of had released a site missing most of the content that most people were going to be interested in, someone would have been fired. And the timing of this launch is wrong and an unnecessary distraction in the run into actual elections, but I’ll stop there as I’m starting to post now and that needs to wait until later when I have the time to do it properly.
