Limerick Man Wins Appeal Against Willy O Dea

Willy O’Dea loset his appeal in Limerick.

Mr Larkin had his conviction overturned at the Circuit Court in Limerick this afternoon.

Judge Ray Fullam said he was satisfied that the prosecution had not proved beyond reasonable doubt that Matt Larkin’s allegation of assault was false.

    Willie O’Dea was not a party to this case – the parties were the DPP and M Larkin – and so did not, indeed could not, lose it.

    The result does not even mean that the judge preferred Larkin’s version to Willie’s. He (the judge) merely said – and, no fan of Willie, I think it the only reasonable conclusion – that it was not proved beyond reasonable doubt that Larkin had made it all up. I don’t think he made it all up, but that is not inconsistent with also believing that there was no assault.
