Keeping the doors on.

So we are being told that we have to cut back. The government is running out of money and we are cutting services like mad but one we are not cutting is.
A helicopter carrying Minister for Tourism Martin Cullen was forced to make an emergency landing in Killarney this afternoon.
Mr Cullen had just finished addressing the annual conference of the Irish Hotels Federation and the Air Corps AW 139 had taken off from the grounds of the Malton Hotel in Killarney.
Yes people a door fell off a helicopter scary. But there is more.
He continued his journey by road to Kerry Airport from where a second AW 139 helicopter, which was diverted from a training exercise in Cork, picked him up and is returning him to Dublin.
So basically Martin Cullen needed two helicopters to send him to Kerry. What was so urgent that he had to get back to Dublin that fast? Why could he not take the car? Something tells me not alot. Great to see the government cutting spending. Maybe the money spent on ferrying Ministers about can be used to make sure the doors stay on. Maybe then we can buy Airwolf.
Update: According to Liveline via Politics.ie the cost of one helicopter trip was €8,130.0

Maybe we could ask NASA to lend him a rocket the next time Cullen needs to make a speech somewhere or other? In exchange we could offer them some old computer hardware that’s been hanging around for a bit and was intended for use for electronic voting. And with luck, he’d be halfway out of the solar system before the doors of the rocket came off and….

So what have Government used the money to acquire?
Farmleigh? Haircuts for Bertie? Helicopters for Cullen, the biggest waster of all? Compensation to Michael Wood’s benefactors? Mercedes-Benz motor cars? junkets?
