Do You Want to Run for Libertas?

Read more about: Features, Government, Lisbon Treaty     Print This Post

Do you fancy running for Libertas? That is a question they asked subscribers to their email list (subbed for research purposes) today. They are taking nominations from the floor to run against the Brussles political elite….wonder if we could have an x-factor selection convention for Eurosceptic candidates.

Maybe Simon Cowell wants some of that action….

Edit: Can we all please nominate Mark Coughlan? Thanks.

While the other parties rely on the same, old politicians with the same old, tired ideas… we want YOU to run. We need real people with fresh ideas, not out-of-touch élites.

That’s where you come in. Here’s your chance to become a candidate, or nominate someone you know to be a candidate, to join our movement.

Change never comes easily. Brussels bureaucrats fear a movement of the people. That’s the problem with the national parties. While they may be able to effect change in each member country, they are powerless in Brussels (where even the largest national party controls only a tiny fraction of the seats).

That’s why Libertas was created. The only way we are going to take back Europe for the people is by creating a pan-European movement, unlike anything that’s been seen before. Libertas is our last and only chance to give everyone in Europe their say.

Why don’t you go and protect your own interests against the Brussles elite? A pan-European movment of assorted Polish rightwingers, French aristocracy and you!

Go on, the establishment dares you!

Damn. Unfortunately, I’m an out-of-touch élite, so I don’t qualify. Oh well.

    What’s wrong with elites?

Why would I want to vote for someone that wasn’t the best in their field of expertise?

Is the Dail made of the 166 best experts?

Sounds very like a Communist war crime. All the need is to say something about nestle, george bush and coke

No they’re not but if a candidate was an elite I wouldn’t consider it a bad thing. Declan Ganley and Libertas seem to be implying it is.

Not sure how an interest in excellence could be considered Communist. Surely it’s the essence of Capitalism?

The more I hear and see of these antics the more it strikes me that Libertas is some sort of political Ponzi scheme. That guy Ganley sure has an ego problem!

Sorry they were two different statements. The communist war crime should have read communist war cry. :) i.e.

As for elites depends on your definition of elites. I don’t liberatas are talking about intellectual elites rather a political elites. i.e. I scratch your back you scratch my back lets not listen to the powerless type elites.

Disappointed not to have heard from Mr.Ganley yet.

    Fingers crossed.

I got that mail a few days ago and had wondered whether it was really being sent to all and sundry who has signed up to the list (I’d signed up for research purposes too.) and then forgot about it. I thought they had candidates for Ireland anyway…

I’m literally on the edge of my seat, waiting here with bated breath to see what turns up out of this. Given how many ex-Freedom Instituters are likely on that email list, the day for FIFieFoeFum’s old dream of a McGuirk/Waghorne dream ticket surely cannot be long off now…

p.s. to Mark Coughlan – I presume that you’re not the former Young PD (and FI) Mark J. Coughlan…?

I should have said that I would prepared to run if only to finally get on the panel for Q&A and a promise of a training flight in a Mig-29.

I do find it slightly ironic that Ganley is creating the first real pan-European party in an attempt to halt Brussels’ influence on individual states.

If they’re referring to the corrupt, unethical, incompetent or undemocratic they should say so. Calling them elites is to misuse a word that should be seen as a compliment.
