How’s your Czech

The office of Czech President Vaclav Klaus has published the transcript of what apparently was a blazing row that erupted in a meeting between him and MEPs Daniel Cohn-Bendit (the ’68 veteran) and Fianna Fail MEP Brian Crowley.  Elements of the row are reported on in the Irish Times today but Klaus has since decided to publish the entire conversation; it’s not clear that the ground rules for the meeting anticipated that this would be done.  Declan Ganley was apparently a major bone of contention.  Unfortunately the transcript is in Czech.  Any chance the media-savvy Klaus will get us a translation?

UPDATE: A politics.ie thread produces the transcript.

It’s not a real transcript I think. Irena Belohorská said that the text is NOT in order.

Klaus is our president, but nothing else. Most of us are ashamed of him, but we can do nothing.

Crowley comes across as a total langer.

Jan H. – if you’ve got a more accurate transcript, post it.

As someone on the p.ie thread said, Crowley is just embarrassing. The whole business about his family fighting British domination. As if Czechs don’t know anything about being dominated by giant neighbours.

To Jan H. – I suppose as an Czech, you are wrong and if there is normal votes for president, Vaclav Klaus is for sure winner. Now it is not interesting, as he has his second term and, opposing to Ventsa Veskrna he is hardly going to make such dirty trick to obtain another term. And about transcript – there is only question, whether it was really taped, or reconstructed from human memory. Sorry me, but I have less confidence to slovak left-wind MEP, than to our president. Vladimir Zelezny supposes, Klaus has 70 % of confidence in nation. Hard to say, whether this number is right, but it is pretty possible and after publishing of Cohn-Bandit words, it could be even more, accuracy of transcript made not a big difference.
