The Eu Parliment

Personnally I have a lot of respect for the EU Parliamentarians but sometimes you have to dispare.  Take this exchange Via EU Observer.

“You ignore the voters, you are destroying democracy, and you have shown that you will stop at nothing,” said Nigel Farage, head of the UK Independence Party, accusing mainstream politicians of creating a “new phenomenon” he termed “EU nationalism”, which he went on to characterise as “the most dangerous political phenomenon to have swept Europe since 1945.”

His statement was applauded by several eurosceptic deputies, wearing green T-shirts and holding posters urging their colleagues to “Respect the Irish vote.”

But their staged protest sparked anger, particularly among some Irish MEPs. Centre-right deputy Avril Doyle commented that support from Britons over respecting the Irish vote was rather late.

“How things could have been different if only our British colleagues had come to this conclusion a century ago.”

Now as you can see in the picture (question mark mine) it is kind of ironic that people saying Respect the Irish dress up as leprechauns it would like if when the French voted no they went into parliament with onions around their neck or when the Dutch voted no and they dressed up as Amy Winehouse in clogs. But Avril Doyle retort god its is like the “thats what she” said of English Irish relations.

well i had heard that Avril had gone ballistic on the radio but didnt quite catch the context. so she was tearing into the ukip. well i can hardly fault her for that but i wonder since when did Fine Gael decide that indeed our rights were ignored in the past. i thought they tended to forget that type of thing but maybe not. go on avril. by the way avril do you think you and mairead will both make it next year again?

It was a fairly comical sight, at least it meant we all took some notice of the affairs in the parliament for once…
