For whatever reason there are those who don&#039;t want/need state recognition in their commitment, but have an arrangement closely resembling that of a married couple. So why discriminate when it comes to tax issues?</description>

I never got this. If one is not willing to marry why should they get the benefits (tax inheritance etc) of marriage? Surely you are either committed to the person or not.  (This is a gender, orientation etc neutral questions)</description>
