True. and is it a coincidence that the Sindo runs with this four month-old story AFTER they have seen stamp duty reformed? i mean, if they had covered this story back when it broke in August, would it have added to or taken away from their argument that stamp duty was somehow holding up the market?

I mean, why did the Sindo and others sit on this story for so long? Then raise it under the cover of "reporting the facts" a la Brian Hayes press statement?

What a pathetic excuse for a media we have.

How can the media raise it? Your analysis as outlined above and elsewhere on this site seems to underline the failure of media to accurately report the property market out of concerns for bottom line and advertisers.

I'm far to modest to suggest such a thing :) At least Brian Hayes has raised it in the mainstream, so that's something. Certainly, the press weren't going to do it.

I mean, the Sindo reported today, unchallenged, that, according to a couple of comical paddies, massive oversupply + international credit crash = house price rises.

when you have such conslusions drawn from such obvious facts, you're dealing with a certain type of reportage alright, and it ain't journalism.
