If one wanted to conceal (Kinseal) a "bung" - for a political favour - such as first option to place government paper in the market - would one not state, categorically, that the "bung" was a political donation?
I would doubt that Padraig O'Connor would want awkward questions about the sources of NCB's "sell orders".

There have been questions in the air since the time that NCB became an entity on the Irish Stock Exchange.

Traditionally, stockbroking was a closed shop. One was invited to join.

Then, out of nowhere, comes NCB.

But one has to remember that this was the Era of Don Charleone and the Squire of Kinsealy could deliver huge favours to donors to his Coq Hardi & Charvet Shirts Funds.

Certainly, NCB managed to get a lot of Government paper; T-Bills etc. to place in the market. So, it is not altogether surprising that Padraig O'Connor might become heir to the same largesses?

And Bertie, as the natural heir to Charlie's taking habits, would also look to NCB for favours?

This could run & run.

And maybe, at last, "truth will out" and Bertie will have pay the piper.
