Gilmore Accuses Bertie Ahern of Lying

In today’s Leader’s Questions Gilmore asserted that he doesn’t believe Ahern’s version of events on his finances as presented before the Mahon Tribunal. Gilmore put it to Ahern at leader’s questions, “I think your story at the tribunal was a cock and bull story” and that he “can’t take the people of the country for gullible fools.”

Bertie robustly defended himself suggesting it was his responsibility to present himself before tribunals when asked and he has given all information to the tribunal. He has given an account to the tribunal that he feels is totally truthful.

The motion on no confidence is due for vote at 8pm or so this evening. Have the opposition overcooked the rhetoric and the tactics?

Anyone else notice that Bertie now says he had 20 bank accounts at a time when he previously said he had none?

Interestingly the opposition are accepting pairing arrangements for the absent Kitt and Martin.
