John Gormley is Green Party Leader

Looks like we gotta get a new poll then, ideas in the comments. Gormley was elected on 64.5% of the vote to Patricia McKenna’s 35.5%. There was a turnout of around 60%. Some intimated that the level of McKenna’s support was some insight into disaffection within the Greens, yet no indication of what level of support meant disaffection.

I am not sure that 35% really translates into disaffected members, however, there are many ways of reading that vote. Some may well have preferred to decentralise the power base again following the inevitable centralising pressure of being in power.

We are a very disappointed community in Ringsend . The incinerator go ahead is a very depressing prospect. We want to hear more from you on this

i wrote about it here Elizabeth, I am interested in the arguments because it seems that we may well need an incinerator for dublin at some point.

I’m only 15. What I know about an incinerator being built isn’t much but I hope my points can persuade you to think strongly about not building.
If you build an incinerator you will be releasing CO2 gases into the air. These gases are melting the polar ice caps. This is causing fresh water to cut off the Gulf Stream which in the next ten years or so will cause Alaskan type winters in Ireland. I don’t doubt you know all this already but I feel it is an issue that we are trying to ignore and hope it will go away. It is an issue we need to tackle now or it will be too late for future generations.
