What now?
Read more about: Coalition, Environment, Fianna Fail, Government, Green Party, Manifesto
So FF-Green have done a deal – now the guessing game before the full statement:
- Does it include the PDs (and co-location)?
- What ministerial positions will the Greens get?
- Will Sargent stick to his guns and step down as leader, having guided the party to Government?
- With or without Sargent, it’s likely to be another all-Dublin Taoiseach/Tánaiste team, what will the other twenty-five counties make of that?
- Can Dan Boyle breath a sigh of relief as he faces five years in an Seanad, as payment for his recent hard work?
- Has Ciarán Cuffe’s “deal with the devil” comments ensured political obscurity for the next five years? Worst still, maybe he’ll get Health or Justice as punishment?
- How many Green policies from the election manifesto actually made the cut, and how many of their environmental policies will be watered down, G8-style?
- Is this the end of corporate donations?
- What assurances did Trevor get from Bertie to keep the boat steady in the months ahead?
- What will the FF farmers make of all of this?
What other questions arise from this deal? Answers will be posted at a later date!

“Does it include the PDs (and co-location)? ”
I would say it includes both. Eamon Ryan appeared to be preparing Green supporters for some disappointments last night on Q&As. A lot of talk about not getting everything etc. I hope I’m wrong though.
Other questions: M3 and the status of Dick Roche.
and cullen and Fahey
What other questions arise from this deal?
“What’s the correct spelling of Trevor Sargent’s name?”, for one.
“What’s the correct spelling of Trevor Sargent’s name?”, for one.
You ask yourself that question too?
I’m certain that is a question that has preoccupied many great minds.
That post reminded me of the end of the old Batman TV series. No doubt the answers will be revealed here tomorrow, same bat-time, same bat channel.
You ask yourself that question too?
lol
Looking at what the times says is the deal. I can’t see it pass. Doubt that is the deal either. Say bringing down expectations so that when the deal comes out they will look good.
The answers are in and they aren’t good for the Greens. Shannon, M3, Transport 21, top-rate of income tax, specific commitments on carbon taxes…nothing. So what exactly do the Green’s stand for? Before this Dail is out, Bertie will be strolling down Inchydoney beach harping on about how he’s the last real environmentalist left.
he’s the last real environmentalist left.
lol.
I can see that
Going by what the Irish Times says is in the deal, it’s very hard to see it being accepted – unless there are many positives that the paper failed to get a hold of or print before now.
The next few hours will answer everything, though!
