emm to go against my principles of not liking the seanad and vote in these elections for Dan emm

  2. # Comment by Dan Sullivan Jun 2nd, 2007 00:06

I should point out that my original intent was for the ballot to say “Software Development Researcher and Disability Activist” but the space was so small it ended up being the other way around.

Simon, just close your eyes and think of the issues. After all, if I reckon the reasons that people don’t vote for me has nothing really to do with me personally (the lies we tell ourselves) then I shouldn’t be thinking that the votes are for me if they do vote for me.

Well I do agree with the Disability activism bit and I like software. Emm

Will Irish Election be covering the Seanad Elections, cause i can never remember them been covered by anyone else! It would be interesting like

  5. # Comment by Dan Sullivan Jun 2nd, 2007 16:06

All I can hope is that we do not have daily or weekly tracking polls!

  6. # Comment by Simon Jun 3rd, 2007 00:06

Well Stephen I emailed Ivana Bacik a few questions a few months ago and got no reply. So we will see

  7. # Comment by Dan Sullivan Jun 3rd, 2007 01:06

Oddly enough I emailed her about 6 months ago about the fact that the education section (or any other sector for that matter) on her website didn’t even mention the extension of the franchise to the likes of UL, DCU, the ITs (we have to get a better name for the Institutes of Technology as a groups than the ITs) and other colleges and also got no reply. I guess educational equality stops at the water’s shore when it comes to the self interest of some TCD candidates.

Funny enough Dan I asked a similar question.

  9. # Comment by Delphinian Jun 3rd, 2007 15:06

    I’ll vote for you Dan.

  10. # Comment by Dan Sullivan Jun 3rd, 2007 17:06

    Cool, thanks for that.

  11. # Comment by Niall Jun 5th, 2007 16:06

Isn’t it great we have an intellectual elite to keep the whimsy of the unwashed masses in check?

  12. # Comment by Mark connolly Jun 19th, 2007 14:06

The private sector deserves to be rewarded for their contribution to our booming economy. Taxes and Rates must be reduced to reward the main driving force of our economic recovery over the last 10 years.

  13. # Comment by Mark connolly Jun 19th, 2007 14:06

Fianna Fail have delivered on the economy over the last 10 years. They are the best party to have in Government and have the best track record.

  14. # Comment by Stephen Douglas Jun 19th, 2007 20:06

As a TCD Seanad candidate I would be happy to answer any questions you have.

I do not mention extending the franchise for the six university Senators directly on my website http://www.stephendouglas.org

But I do refer (http://www.stephendouglas.org/policies.html) to how I will help the DIT become a full-status university.

This would, at least, mean that when the Government finally does get around (during the next five years this does seem likely, although I am told it ahs seemed so at teh beginning of most sessions over the past three decades) to implementing the 1979 referndum in which the people of Ireland voted to extend the franchise to graduates of all Irish universities, at least non-DU DIT grads would get the vote too.

  15. # Comment by Rory Jun 20th, 2007 20:06

I think Sean will get my vote.

  16. # Comment by Emmett Keane Jun 26th, 2007 19:06

    Attention – Mark Connolly
Is that picture on the ballot a p!ss pull ? It looks like someone drew the hat and ‘tache on with a marker.
Pancho Villa wouldn’t be in it.

  17. # Comment by You Know Who Jul 6th, 2007 01:07

It seems that who ever set up the site has not been reading the newspapers. Ike Efobi and Shay Conway do not have any profession to their names shame on you lot.

  18. # Comment by Shay Conway Jul 7th, 2007 22:07

I am a Geologist by qualification.

I now primarily work as a research analyst and also as a commercial mediator.

    Regards

Shay Conway – TCD Seanad Candidate 2007
