To judge by the way Ahern shafted McCreevy & Brennan, when he was going through his Pauline Conversion to Sean Healy’s Poverty Party,and the way he consistently failed to give Harney and McDowell the necessary support for their reformist policies, especially if his mates in the Public Service Trade Unions were involved, suggest that he will appear to be 110% behind him, then hang them out to dry, when his mates from the Galway Tent start objecting to any changes that upset their profits.
It will be the same with any outsider who threatens Ahern’s cosy relationship with his donors.
And if Sargent gets Transport it will be the same.
When the chips are down, Ahern will always support the bullies in the Trade Unions, his best buddies.
