God God Brian, I was being sarcastic. Of course Bertie will be Taoiseach?

By the way, the only person who can be fairly described as 'leftovers' here is your former party leader who ran off crying when he got rejected by the people. What an embarrassment!

Yes JG I am serious. The Bev Flynn and Mattie McGrath issues are unlikely to be cleared up by the 14th. Adding FF-PD, Healy-Rae, Flynn and Lowry there are 83 votes if the Opposition provide the CC. Lowry is reportedly open to a deal with Ahern. Ahern will be elected Taoiseach on 14th June. A Taoiseach has to be elected and at the end of the day, SF are not going to vote for Kenny, nor are the FF gene-pool Independents. To become Taoiseach on the 14th, Kenny needs 4 of the 5 Independents to vote for him which he will not get. Bev Flynn and Healy-Rae are not going to vote for the Blueshirts. Mary Harney knows that Coalition with FF is the only way to implement the core-value of hospital co-location which is probably the bottom-line for the PDs. As for the Greens, if they want to be the "leftovers" that's up to them. The electorate will remember them as a party of protest not of govt, while prospective future Rainbow Coalition partners will remember them as a prickly bunch and unreliable as partners in govt.

FWIW I tend to agree with you MP. But it's an odd week, isn't it. Wonder what is going through Labours collective mind at the moment.

Bertie will be Taoiseach - until FF, inevitably, turn against him...sometime soon

I think maybe we are being prepared for the pullout and breakdown WBS - it has been very quiet for the first 4 days - even in terms of the commentary on the Green policy for entering government.

yeah hard to tell what's brinksmanship and what reflects a fundamental crisis. Interesting also that the first real post-election business on the FF website was a Dick Roche event, as he must be first for the chop in a Green-FF cabinet.

Do you think MP that it's a ploy by Greens in order to make the breakthrough - should it arrive - seem more momentous?
