Read more about: Coalition, Fianna Fail, Government, Green Party, Parties

RTE are reporting this afternoon that the Green party have gotten a response from Fianna Fail to their document outlining the difficulties in the negotiations. Clearly there are still roadblocks but time is certainly less of a luxury now than it was on Friday.

Green Chairman John Gormley has now returned to the party’s head office with the document to discuss its contents with colleagues.

Mr Gormley said difficulties remained between the two parties and he did not know how long the Greens’ consideration of the document would take. The two parties have said said they will maintain contact throughout the as efforts continue to form a new Government before the Dáil meets on Thursday.

Update: Maman Poulet adds John Gormley blogged yesterday saying he did not want the deal contrary to media speculation over the weekend.

As the RTE story gets updated, one gets the increasing impression that the Greens are split.

I’m not sure about that P O’Neill. They seem fairly united to me. I also think that the hiatus over the weekend may well have been buyers trepidation, putting their hand out to buy something, then thinking again, and now thinking once more.

In any event…Sargent is on his way to Government Buildings according to RTÉ.
