PD Loss in Limerick East

Read more about: Blogging, Election Results, Limerick East     Print This Post

Source sugests the Limerick East count to break as follows:

From this count Power and Noonan to be elected on +100 and +400 respectively, not enough to get anyone elected so Trish Forde Brennan to go too.

From that Jan O Sullivan to get elected (60% of transfers)

Noreen Ryan eliminated and thanks to geography helps get O’Donnell over the line (some of Forde-Brennan will go to him as well, again geography), OMalley to lose out.

Can the PDs still call themsleves a party? …or are they now a ‘club’?

I’ve had a call with someone who was tallying at the count. It will now go through 3-4 counts because there aren’t enough transfers until a big candidate gets eliminated.

O’Sullivan is safe. O’Donnell and O’Malley aren’t atracting enough transfers. Some pundits (both FF and FG) at the count were speculating that if Ryan makes up ground on O’Malley (and a tally of the transfers from O’Dea, Quinlivan & Forde Brennan indicate that she will be close) then she may outlast him going into what will be the final count. IF Ryan is eliminated her transfers are going everywhere and O’Malley can’t catch O’Donnell. HOWEVER if it’s O’Malley that goes first then a large chunk of his vote is going to FF and to Ryan and she will then be breathing down O’Donnell’s neck. The gap is probably just a bit too big but there will be some sweating tomorrow.

If I was to call it I would say right now it’s 99% certain that O’Sullivan will take the 4th seat. It’s 75% certain that O’Sullivan will take the final seat. 24% that Ryan will and 1% that O’Malley will.
