Confirming suspicions that the Irish Times’ story on Monday was a dangler, there were more allegations today surrounding the £30,000 which Michael Wall gave to Celia Larkin. The Times reports that the Tribunal are concerned the Taoiseach was acting as Mr Wall’s nominee at the time of purchasing the house. The tribunal believe Mr Wall took a loss of £15,800 on the sale of the house.
There are also implicit questions raised by the article about a sum of £50,000 which the tribunal was tolad was lodged by Larkin in an account in her name for the Taoiseach, then withdrawn and returned to him. Later on it emerges that Wall withdrew the same amount from his account in Galway but this went to a safe in Manchester for receipted expenditures.
