Michael McDowell wrong way up the poll
Read more about: Fianna Fail, Progressive Democrats, Sinn Féin
McDowell tried to to recreate the spirit of 2002 with climbing the poll with a sign saying left wing government No thanks. And it has largely been ignored with John Gormley’s interrupting being the photo-op moment taken. Thing is he could have pulled it off again. But what the poster need to say was “Sinn Fein Government, No thanks”. Look at the debates McDowell’s shining moment was not attacking Trevor and Pat it was ripping Adams apart. People are afraid of Sinn Fein in government far more afraid then they are of Trevor and Pat. They are not going to attract FG voters but by highlighting the possibility of Fianna Fail being in power with Sinn Fein they could get a few FF votes. And considering the front of the Tribune today has
SINN Fein has appointed an internal party group to prepare for government talks with Fianna Fail in the event that the two parties are able to form a stable coalition after this week’s general election.
Maybe he missed the life-raft.
Update : Indeed this is the type of thing he should be highlighting From the ogra Sinn Fein blog.
Michael O’Neill
Failte abhaile agus adh mór ó Ógra Shinn Féin.
Ógra Shinn Fein welcomes home Michael O’Neill and wish him the best of luck. Michael has been released from Castlerea jail after serving many years behind prison walls.
We in Ógra Shinn Féin have visited our comrades in Castlerea and we will continue to do so until the last Prisoner walks free.
Yip great to see a party celebrating the release of people who see no problem emptying a clip of an AKa-47 into a Garda. Way to go. And before any Sinner goes on about how I should be dealing with them as a real political party etc and not looking to the past. Bull. If Sinn Fein can go on about Fianna Fail being dodgy because they got brown envelopes then I can go on about them being murders. And I have dealt with their policies before anyone asks.
