Irishelection.com Count Blog and Rumour Watcher – We Need You!

We here at Irishelection.com are planning a bit of a do for the election count, what with it being our raison d’etre and all. On Friday we are planning to run a special count watch blog at www.irishelection.com/count. The link will go live on Thursday to cover the voting and breaking stories and will really get into full swing on Friday morning as the count begins and tallies roll in. We are looking for bloggers and readers to help us out around the country and help keep us up to date with counts.

What is it going to comprise of?

We plan to compile breaking news/gossip/rumours from around the country, providing great on-the-spot analysis and putting all of it in the wider context thanks to having many of our bloggers in the one spot keeping on top of things. We are also very excited about a couple of nifty add ons which will help you help us. MySay.com will be helping us to feed rumours/tallies to you from the sidebar where readers can ring a number, leave a message and it will stream as a podcast in the sidebar (don’t say we don’t spoil you). We will also be keeping you up to date on the road with a text service to give you the latest state of the parties and rumours from the counts. You can text in the latest news and we can text back the wider community with updates.

To make all of this work we need your help.

If you are planning (or know anyone who is) to keep an eye on a count centre around the country we want to hear from you. Email at the address and help us bring it together. We plan to have a spot in Dublin for all our bloggers to come together and pour over the results, polls and tallies together. Any blogger who wants to come along pass on an email to the address above. We are working through constituency counts at the moment so wherever you are just give an email. We will be posting details of the nifty MySay stuff tomorrow and Wednesday so keep it here.
