Right, I am going to bed now… FF has 50% down from 68% (if you add Blaney’s IFF vote)… But on the last count, Jim McDaid noses in front of MacLochainn, and then Blaney comes the line… Good day for Milford… Bad news for Inishowen… Keaveney seems to have been crunched by the good Doctor’s Letterkenny defence stratagem… McLochlainn must be gutted…
And a nice example of how the PR “integer problem” favours FF. 50% of the vote = 66 percent of the seats.
P, thats what PR and the transfers do. It will nearly always favour FF. That’s what happens when your the biggest party.
McDaid says what Suzy says above, but did he need to do it? Can’t help thinking Cecilia was the fall guy/gal here…
Go Joe Mc Hugh Fair Play you show them how its done.
P*ssed off Mc Hugh got in and Keaveney is out. Blaney and Mc Daid will have to grow up if they are going to be working together to best serve Donegal. Inishowen can only blame itself – giving so many votes to Mc Hugh knowing that he not only doesn’t live in Inishowen, but he doesn’t even live in Donegal full stop. I wonder if they will see him much!
Imagine, Inishowen is half the electorate in Donegal North-East and fails to elect one of their “own”. From speaking to people up there they had very little confidence in the abilities of Cecilia Keaveney. That is the reason she lost her seat.Working hard for your constituents gets you elected. It is a surprise that Joe McHugh topped the poll but can he deliver the sun, moon and stars he promised during the campaign now that FG will not be in government. Great to see McDaid hold onto his seat and thank god Blaney made it through and I hope all six Donegal TDs will work towards the betterment of Letterkenny Hospital and local cancer services. The people of Donegal has always been good to FF return four of the six TDs, so its now high time that the people of Donegal are rewarded.
