Irony?

On the same day that a survey showed Irish people are the EU’s top binge drinkers, Tesco is running a buy-12-cans get-12-cans-free promotion in the national media for St Patrick’s weekend, according to Fianna Fáil Dáil candidate Cllr Michael McGrath. The supermarket’s promotion of a culture of excess on the same day that an EU-wide survey attests to our national binge-drink profile is irresponsible and socially destructive.
This coming from a guy who runs a clinic every Monday (except bank holidays) at Cogan’s Bar, Main Street, Carrigaline. Anyone see the irony?
Head over to our T
Between himself and Micheál Martin, the Fianna Fail boys down in Cork South Central seem intent and running a nanny state! Anyway, thanks for the inspiration.

What irony? A sociable few drinks in a pub is not a bad thing and is not the same as promoting alcoholism. So what if he has a clinic in a bar?
If anything, the most drunk people on an average night probably got drunk at home, not in the pub.
PS: I don’t even drink, so maybe it’s ironic that I’m making this comment?
No irony whatsoever.
Michael McGrath’s clinics are held in a private room above Cogan’s & anybody attending those clinics don’t have to go anywhere near the bar or lounge if they do not want to (& I can assure you that almost all just come to do their business without having a drink).
We have enough problems to deal with without people taking stupid potshots like this at people who are genuinly doing their best for their constituents.
Maybe you would prefer if Michael made himself unavailable to his constituants as public reps do in so many other countries.
Thank God most people are intelligent enough to realise that Michael is doing all that he can to make himself available to his constituents & that he is working hard on their behalf.
Hopefully a day will come when you remove the blinkers.
