Kerry Polls

Read more about: Kerry North, Labour Party, Polls, Sinn Féin

Not more polls, you say! But it appears that Labour could be back with a bang in Kerry. The Kerryman reports that two polls in North Kerry show Labour Cllr. Terry O’Brien winning a seat if not topping the poll. It also suggests that Martin Ferris will be fighting it out with Fine Gael’s Jimmy Deenihan for the last seat. If Fine Gael can bounce back a bit, maybe Sinn Fein could be about to lose one of their safest seats. With all the talk of what seats Sinn Fein will gain, are people overlooking the seats they could lose? This must be good news for Pat Rabbite; finally one poll gives them something.

cant see martin losing his seat, terry is slugging it out with two ff candidates and deenihan for the two seats left. I could be wrong but on the ground ferris’ vote always seems to be rock solid and quite big. Terry is an excellent candidate for labour as he is from the tralee area, very well known and hugely popular both as ex-mayor and general personality. He has a great chance of outmanouvering FF as they have picked two candidates for NK both from tralee and two competing (often acrimonious) dynasties.

Their vote is likely to split quite badly and depending on transfers it is between deenihan, foley and McCellistrim. Lots of discontent with the performance of Mc by the way.

Thats only my two cents. Fine Gael arent competing for martin’s votes, that competition is really between martin, McCellistrim and O Brien. As I suggested its transfer patterns that will decide who gets in.

If Kerry voters have any sense they’ll put that Sinn Fein IRA terrorist back on the dole queue.

Unfortunately Caz, Ferris will never have to sign on again even if the country had the good luck to see him fail to retain his seat in the upcoming election because like his fellow Kerry resident Judge Curtin he will qualify for a taxpayer funded pension and various other compensations paid to TDs who lose their electoral mandate.
In addition there is always the Sinn Fein/Ira pension fund of £26 million from the Northern Bank raid to be drawn on, surely as a leading member of the IRA he would qualify for a stipend from the “Brotherhood” after all he did go to jail for the “cause” 10 years for gun running I believe it was!

Actually the 26 million is largely useless as they changed the currency. They only got about 4 million in real money. Of which something like 3 has been recovered
