[...] I think I once said that there is nothing wrong with corporate donations. My argument was that the corporate donation does not make a politician corrupt the politician makes the donation corrupt. But with the revelations from Bertiegate and Tim O’Malley’s details of Labour and Fine Gael donations. I have changed my mind. Corporate donations should be stopped but not just corporate donations. All donations. [...]

The curious thing is that it is Tim that is doing this and someone else in the PDs, say why not Fiona? Is it because it didn't occur to her or that his seat is in more direct danger or that he is more inclined to regurgitate what Ogra FF produce?

Whatever one might think of the way political parties raise funds from corporate and business donors even Mr O'Malley after I'm sure exhaustive research couldn't produce an example of a serving Minister in any other political party who trousered money for his own personal use other than the present Taoiseach, his mentor the former Taoiseach Mr. Haughey and the well rehearsed list of members from the same "esteemed" party Fianna Fail whom I notice he didn't use as examples of the lack of ethics in politics, I wonder why!

True Dan I think this is gloves are off time and all the scandal is about to come pouring out. All this is known. Everyone in parliment and the media knows everyones dodgy dealings.

Like I pointed out but John seemed to entirly miss. Is that the PD's are not the most ethical party out there themselves.

I got a feeling Dodgey dealings is a exponentail curve of dodgy deals vs seats. The saying power corrupts and absoulte etc etc comes to mind.

Tim shouldn't really be getting people too focused on ancient history or people will start to dig around the issue of where the PDs got their start up money from.

A week after the Ógra hacks raised this "point" on Q&A a week ago, the ever entertaining Tim manages to get a press release out of it. And then we get a regugiration of the press release here, without any context, or digging on the issues. Two big claps all round are deserved.

Sarah Carey has a very useful blog on this very issue:

Suerly there is more to blogging the election than posts like this, and the FG are breaking their promises one?
