Kitt Gets Slap on Wrist for Acceding to Possibility of Debate

Government Chief Whip Tom Kitt was seen being hustled into a meeting by very angry officials from the Department of An Taoiseach after he agreed to consider a debate on “Bertiegate”.

The Government have now been forced to concede to a 35 minute round of “statements” on Tuesday next, although the Opposition are still insisting on a Q&A session.  However, any discussion whatsoever only extends the press coverage lifetime of the issue, and Mr Ahern’s handlers are said to be furious with Kitt for giving way at all.
