THE ROLE OF THE FEDERATED HOSPITALS.

I read recently that the Church of Ireland is concerned at the suggested re-location of the Childrens’ Hospital.
Which brings me back to a sneaking feeling that the closure of the centre city hospitals – Baggot Street ; The Adelaide; Mercers; Sir Patrick Duns – made neither commercial nor common sense – at a time when there was a movement of large numbers of people into the newly built apartment blocks in Ringsend & other areas of the docks & the Liberties. One can visualise the first person to die, in one of the daily traffic gridlocks, en route to the outer suburbs, with no city centre hospital left to deal with emergencies.
Could it be the Country & Western lodges of Fianna Fail trying to wrest control from the liberal doctors in the Federated Hospitals?
Just a thought.
