Here is something I did not expect from the CSO. Overall Production increases by 4% Yes you heard it write production grew. How you ask?
Despite a fall of 10.0% in the volume of output in residential construction, the overall volume of output in building and construction activity increased by 4.0% in the second quarter of 2007 compared to the second quarter 2006. This overall increase is due to strong annual growth in the civil engineering sector (+36.2%) and in the non-residential building sector (+22.7%).
This compares to the EU figure of 2.4% and the first quarters decline of -12.4% . This is however the second quarter of the year so the recent falling might explain theses figures.
