Tension mounts in Meath FG circles

Read more about: Fine Gael, Meath West

As the selection convention for Meath West approaches, with Graham Geraghty in the running (by the way, as far as we can tell, Irish Election beat all the national media to the story that Geraghty was interested in running), the following are some of the rumours circulating among the Stop Geraghty campaign, as told to Irish Election by a source in Meath.

Rumour 1: Celia Larkin is Graham Geraghty’s wife’s godmother.

Rumour 2: FF tried to get him to run in the Euro 2004 elections for them but Liam Aylward MEP didn’t want him on the ticket.

As our exasperated source asked, in reference the circulation of these rumours, why?

Update: Much more of the local colour from Sarah Carey. We’ll try and post the outcome of the selection convention tonight.

    I heard a rumour …
Graham Geraghty was at a meeting recently,
and somebody asked - ‘how do you feel now, to be
going forward as part of the the team for Fine Gael ?
And he replied - telling about how honoured he
felt , what a great privelege it was for him, in the context
of the history of Ireland, and all of that noddy nonsense ..
.. .. “It is a great honour for me to looking to be a TD represent the people of Meath
on behalf of the Fianna Fail party …..”
Somebody quietly pointed out the error to Graham - and he got
embarrassed and the FG went silent around was absolutely silent.

… pruf I suhpohz, dat he shud hav stuck 2 de fut ball….
