The Six one News had a report about the todays jobless figures showing a rise in unemployment coming mainly from construction. They had a report about how many rural areas depend much on construction something I mentioned a few weeks ago. What it reminded me of was a clip on reeling in the years. In that clip and this report the impact of unemployment on local GAA teams was highlighted. As a symptom of rural unemployment. While Irish Unemployment remains fairly low on a European scale at 4.7% (ish) . The effect on rural Ireland and young males can not be ignored.
