Mortgage

Read more about: Taxation

There seems to be a little falsehood going about the country this week. All the parties and papers seem to be at it.

What they are all saying is that the mortgage interest relief has given people no advantage as they have to pay more interest anyway. Correct me if I am wrong but the ECB was going to raise interest rates anyway.

Dan Boyle of the Greens said, “First-time buyers today are in exactly the same financial position that they were in yesterday.” So if the ECB had increased interest rates anyway, and Cowen had not increased Interest relief, they would be in a worst situation today. The fact that they are in the same position despite an interest rise is actually a relatively good thing.

Please proofread your blogs before you post them. Your spelling and grammatical errors are distracting.

PQ, Simon’s dyslexic and he makes as much as an effort as possible to ensure his spelling and grammar are correct. I copyedit whenever I’ve a chance, but things get through.
