Will someone over in Fine Gael HQ simply tell people to shut up. Just stop talking. Seriously. Again today we have another crack pot anti-drugs idea.

The release is over a pretty normal matter and deals with it.

“In the Budget last week just over €20 million was allocated for the decommissioning of the white fish vessel fleet. While any funding must be welcomed it must also be put in the context of the Cawley report on the fishing industry and the pace of the decommissioning, which most in the industry hoped would be complete by 2008. The Cawley report sought over €60 million in funding and, given that just a third of that has been made available, the Government’s commitment to its recommendations are in question. Is this key report now in tatters?

Fair enough Government not doing enough on fishing boo hiss etc. But why the hell do they tack on that muppety headline. It is taking away from the issue. The issue is not drugs it is fishing industry. But they must be thinking on high that the way to get at the government is on the drugs issue and thus should push it to the fore with every opportunity. Hence why we will next week probably have a release on the need for street cleaners to fight drugs. Also if you really want to fight imports of drugs don’t be trying to get fishermen to do it. Get the navy.
