Scully to run in Election

Read more about: Blogging, Fine Gael, Limerick East

In the first of his videocasts posted on YouTube, Cllr. Diarmuid Scully has revealed that he will be running for a Dáil seat in the upcoming general election.

Incidentally, you can keep up to date on Cllr. Scully’s videocasts by visiting this link.

In a statement on videocasting, the councillor said “Limerick is a technologically sophisticated city with a young population. People work long hours, and more and more of them are relying on the Internet as their main source of news. I found with the podcasts that I could communicate with an audience that was not being reached by more traditional media. I hope that this video message will reach even more people.”

It would appear that Fine Gael have decided to add him to their election ticket. The party had already made their election selection when Cllr. Scully had his party whip restored in February of this year.

hmm, it’s no longer available. Could it just have been a test of concept? A teaser of what he might be able to do during the course of an actual campaign? A real online video diary of a candidate would be cool.

Also, two candidates in Meath East - Thomas Byrne (www.thomasbyrne.blogspot.com) and Dominic Hannigan (www.dominichannigan.blogspot.com) have made a start…
