Bruton exposes Irish oil rip-off: diesel 20.1% dearer, petrol 11.3%, heating oil 13%
Reading that headline you would think that he himself had exposed the rip-off. Telling us tales of going undercover in the local statoil garage. But alas no. He did not expose anything. It was in fact the EU.
Figures released by the European Commission this week on the price of petrol products show:
Irish pre-tax prices for oil products on the 20th October are far dearer than in the EU. Petrol is 11.3% dearer, while diesel is 20.1% dearer, and home heating oil is 13% dearer.
So maybe Exposes is a strong word. Maybe Bruton comments on would be more appropriate.
Yes bad opposition not agreeing with the Government. Basically this release argues that reducing classes size is not important.
“The UK, Turkey, Japan and Korea all have higher class sizes than Ireland and these countries are renowned for having the most respected educational establishments and I am confident that with their professional approach, teachers can accommodate school children in the same manner as when the ratio was much higher.”
South Korea (I never know Fianna Fail did not recognise North Korea ) does indeed have a great education system and does indeed have higher classes sizes. So maybe he is right maybe we don’t need smaller classes Thank you Deputy Kennedy for showing us the way. To think all this money we needlessly waste on trying to reduce class sizes. Shocking. At the end of the release
“I am confident that as the global economy improves it will be possible to build again on the significant achievements of recent years and I am committed to reducing the parent-teacher ratio when the economy picks up,” said Deputy Kennedy.
Emmm.
Irish Election are pleased to announce our collection of Irish
This is what gets me about the government and the education cuts. It boggles the mind when you read these kind of statements. So according to the likes of Kennedy, it was the right decision to decrease classroom because it benefited students, it is right to increase classroom sizes now because it won’t hurt the students, but in the future the classroom size will be increased because it will be in the interests of students. Seriously?
By the way Simon, above you quote Kennedy as stating the ‘parent-teacher ratio’ will be reduced in the future. Is that an error on your part, Kennedy’s part, or perhaps has Kennedy let slip Fianna Fail’s evil plan to kill off some of the nation’s less productive parents as means to minimising social welfare payments?
lol
No I just copied that straight. I guess someone made a typo
