New Irishelection.com Design

Read more about: Blogging

Update: Site seems to be functioning now, any bugs please email cian-at-irishelection.com.

As you can see around you the new Irishelection.com is up an running. There is all the usual features plus some pretty cool new ones. The links of interest panel on your right takes links that some of the writers think readers might be interested and allows you to comment on them. This space is likely to be filled with stories from home and abroad that we may not have had a chance to post on. We can still comment on them by simply clicking the comments link. Nifty eh?

There is a separate RSS feed for these links so you can subscribe to them too. We have redesigned the look of the main posts pages and the main page as well as putting in the Politics in Ireland widget which should display links rounding up Irish Politics posts around the web.

There is a new home for the podcast too, you can either stream or download the latest episode of Inside Out from the front page, though we will be redesigning that part of the site too in due course. Farther up we have reorganised the links and archives so you can navigate around earlier posts. If you want your site added to the links drop a comment.

There is also a lot of new ways to subscribe to the site. If you would like to receive email updates you can use the email subscription box in the sidebar. As you can imagine the site took a fair amount of time to put together and thanks must go to John Blackbourn for his work and time. If you spot anything buggy in the new look drop me an email or a comment.

How to read and subscribe:
The RSS links for the site are as follows:

Main feed (http://www.irishelection.com/feed/)

Comments (http://feeds.feedburner.com/irishelectioncomments/)

Latest Links (http://feeds.feedburner.com/irishelection-links/)

You can sign up to read the site by email by clicking here or filling your email into the box in the sidebar.

We are on twitter so don’t forget to join and add us as a friend to get free text message updates from the site.

The podcast Inside Out is available from here too, subscribe to its RSS feed or subscribe with iTunes.

The begging bowl won’t be produced ad nauseum but if you like what you see and what we do, it would help immensely if a small donation were made toward costs of redesign.

it’s looking extremely well, I must say.

I particularly like all the extra bells and whistles that (if used to their full potential) will turn this from a blog into a Irish political hub.

    Great stuff.

I like it, although it’s a bit busy looking on the individual post pages (what with all the stuff down either side).
