Des Richardson keeps digging

Read more about: Bertiegate, Corruption, Scandal, Tribunals

Another day in the witness stand and more bizarre revelations and inconsistencies from Des Richardson.  Today at the planning tribunal we learned that Bertie’s dig-out repayments — when he decided that they were loans — were remitted, via Bertie, to a charity in which Miriam is involved.  It’s a strange type of loan to give when as the principal is being repaid, you decide that you never really wanted the money back and allow the borrower some say in where it goes.   Richardson is also still bogged down in explaining the circuitous route of a £5,000 donation from Padraic O’Connor to Bertie: as with the digout, there seems to be some retroactive interpretation of the purpose for which the money was intended.

Richardson’s evidence is amazing stuff. It is choc full of info about the way FF runs its funding. It also sheds a lot of light on the manner in which money was sloshing about from one account to the other.

there seems to be no way of knowing which money was for Bertie and which was for the party, pursposeful or not. It seems to confirm a background of grey-area deals that dont seem all too kosher
